Finsbury, EC1R

Finsbury is a place in the south of the London Borough of Islington. The name is first recorded as Vinisbir (1231) and means "manor of a man called Finn."

Finsbury was a division of the Ossulstone hundred of Middlesex. There is a Finsbury Park some miles further north, within the division, but outside the area latterly considered to be Finsbury, which was the core of the former Metropolitan Borough of Finsbury.
